Growing in revelation of God’s love

The other morning I awoke to the song “O The Blood” by Kari Jobe. If you have never heard it, I’ve included a link at the end of this blog.
The first verse of that song says…
“O the blood
Crimson love
Price of life’s demand
Shameful sin
Placed on Him
The Hope of every man”

That morning God woke me up and reminded me of His great love, not for the whole world necessarily, but for ME. I’ve been in church all my life and know John 3:16, but sometimes God likes to remind you of His love for YOU.

One other time God made it very clear to me that His love was my source of life. On this day I saw the girl I was dating with another man. It turned out that she was just helping him with something and nothing immoral was going on. But at the moment I observed this, it crushed me because I had just went through the pain of a divorce due to the unfaithfulness of my wife. I thought, “Here we go again!” I cried and became deeply upset. But God spoke to my spirit that day. He said, you think that another human can fulfill your need for love, but only I can fulfill that need.

If we realize that the One who created everything loves us personally and intimately, we can withstand anything that life throws at us. Our problem is that many times we don’t think He can love us because we have made so many mistakes, done something we think went too far. But the Bible tells us a different story.

“But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 AMP

“For indeed Christ died for sins once for all, the Just and Righteous for the unjust and unrighteous [the Innocent for the guilty] so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit;”
1 Peter 3:18 AMP

God is not constrained by time. He is eternal. He already knows what will happen in the future. He knew about every sin you would commit before you did it. And He sent His Son to pay the penalty for that sin before you ever committed it. Why? Because He loves you and wants a relationship with you.

“But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all He has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 2:4‭-‬7 NLT

If you want a prayer to pray that will always be answered, pray for God to bring a fresh revelation of His love for you.

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:16‭-‬19 NLT
